You have rented a boat in Mallorca and now where are you going? Apart from sailing around the island, entering each of its coves and bathing in its turquoise waters… if you like tranquillity, nature and idyll, there is a place you can’t miss,a trip to Cabrera.
This archipelago made up of 18 islands and islets is only 15km from the south of Mallorca. In 1808 with the arrival of the War of Independence it became a prison until 1814 when the Peace was signed and it was dominated by the military army. It was in 1991 when this virgin and uninhabited island was declared a National Maritime and Terrestrial Park.
And now you are wondering what you can do on Cabrera?
As we have already mentioned, Cabrera is the largest island that makes up this archipelago and first of all you have to decide if you just want to spend the day or if you want to stay the night. Our recommendation is that you stay the night and in this way you will be really aware of the haven of peace that exists on this island.
In this link you will find the different permits (day, night and diving), remember to apply in advance as there are a limited number of buoys.

Once you get to Cabrera you will find different activities, you have the whole day ahead of you and you have to make the most of it. Early in the morning, when the sun is not yet shining, you can walk around the island, it is the only way to get to know the island and thus preserve the nature that exists, a must is to climb the Castle, from here you can see the silhouette of the Sierra de Tramuntana declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
Other routes that you can do along the island is the one that takes you to the Ensiola Lighthouse, of course, go with comfortable shoes as it is a 5 hour walk, almost 11 km, it is a more complicated walk.
If you are one of those who like sunbathing and swimming in crystal clear waters, this is your plan, discover the different coves, starting with S’Espalmador, Sa Platgeta or Ca’s Pagés, where you can snorkel and find a large number of species of marine fauna, such as groupers, conger eels, sea tomato, octopus, sea bass?
And as a finishing touch, visit the famous Blue Cave, its name says it all, a cave with a strong and intense tonality of this characteristic colour of the sea, it is located in one of the cliffs at the northern end of the island, take the opportunity to visit it in the late afternoon when the last rays of sunlight come in and create light effects and colours that make it even more magical.
This excursion will be an adventure not only because of what you will find on the island but also because along the way you may spot dolphins that may come close to the bow of your boat to greet you and do their jumping show, so have your camera ready because you never know when they may appear.
